Is Gideon a bit like you and I?

I love many of the Old Testament stories and reading about how God worked in and through the lives of ordinary people.   One recent observation I made was in regards to Gideon.  Gideon was just an ordinary man from a poor family and yet God made very clear to him that he was to lead the people of Israel against the Midianites.  Imagine how Gideon must have felt as he contemplated the task before him, and yet he was reassured by God that God Himself was going to be with him to help him.  Gideon went on to test God two different times because he just really wanted reassurance that he was following God and doing exactly what God wanted him to do.

Are we ever like Gideon?

Do we ever wonder how a God so amazing and powerful would pick to use people as frail as us?

Do we ever sit and think that we are so unworthy to do anything at all for the Kingdom of God?

I know I do ...quite often... and that's okayWhy?

Because in reality I am unworthy on my own, and I am frail

I am reminded in God's Word that God chooses to use the weak and the foolish things....God chooses to use ordinary people like you and me.....people who love Him and want to serve Him....
He uses our weaknesses and magnifies Himself.

So if you think you can't be used by God because of some standard you have set for yourself,...set that standard aside...and
let God use you for His glory, by His grace.

We are weak, we are frail, we are sinful, but God He is so powerful, so strong, and so perfect...and 'His power is made perfect in weakness.'

A humbling task...

Teaching simple but very profound Truths to little hearts who are watching, learning, growing....It's a privilege, it is a huge be entrusted with little souls....little ones who have questions and seek answers....children who need a godly example....that alone makes this mom cringe when she realizes how weak she is, what a sinner she is....four children watching, following....taking note of her every action....trying to make sense out of little disappointments and frustrations that come in to their life, but that are not little to them....what a large and humbling that can not be done efficiently in this moms own strength...can only be done with the strength of the Lord...seeking His face....asking for wisdom, daily, moment-by-moment....trusting...praying...crying out to Him....silently pleading for His grace, His help.....realizing that these children need to see Jesus in me....

My little 'shepherd' boy!

Caedmon was to dress as a little shepherd boy for the Christmas program at his school.  Then the group of classmates sang a Christmas song together.  Here he is in the typical shepherd uniform that can be rented for the day here in Loja!  Isn't he so cute?!

Caedmon turned six on December 13th - we just celebrated this weekend as a family and had a great time! Caedmon is such a sweet boy and a gift from the Lord. I praise the Lord for saving Caedmon and pray that he will continue growing to love God and live for Him! Caedmon adds so much joy to my life! Happy 6th birthday to my 'baby' boy!

Happy 10th Birthday, Hudson!

Hudson - our precious 10 year old!

Opening his cards from his grandparents

I just love that smile!

He asked for No-Bakes for his birthday dessert!  Does it get any easier than that?!

"Take a bite of the "cake" "

Hudson turned 10 the last day of November and we just celebrated as a family this past weekend!  Hudson is a joy!  We are so privileged to have such a sweet boy for our firstborn.  We pray that he will love the Lord all of His days and that he will continue to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit in his life as he is now.  We love you, Hudson!  Happy 10th Birthday!

A good little mommy?

My sweet daughter loves to have an opportunity to hold a baby!  It is a highlight for her, maybe because she never had a younger brother or sister, I don't know, but regardless, she loves any chance she can get!  She looks like she just might make a very good mommy someday!

Dia de Independencia de Loja

Tomorrow is Independence Day for Loja.  As a result, the school where Gabriella attends had a special morning performance and it was great!  It just thrills my soul to see my kids was a fun morning!
